Mensagem enviada por Germano Woehl Jr. - Instituto Rã-Bugio (SC) A matéria do Fantástico (do quadro Detetive Virtual) acatando a nota do Governo da Costa Rica, por intermédio da sua Agência Oficial de Turismo (que controla a bilionária indústria de turismo na Costa Rica – movimenta mais de 5 Bilhões de dólares por ano), justificando a geração de renda com roubo dos ovos das mamães tartarugas, deveria informar também o contraponto. Muitos cientistas (especialista da área da conservação da vida selvagem) e ambientalistas reprovam esta atividade. Veja bem: a crueldade contra os animais é tão grande que eles retiram os ovos ainda durante a postura das mamães tartarugas (nem isto eles respeitam, causando muito estresse) que chegam exaustas àquela praia após viajarem milhares de quilômetros atravessando vários oceanos , achando que ali é um lugar seguro para terem seus bebês, que, antes de nascerem, estes anjinhos acabam virando iguaria, indo parar no estômago de turistas estrangeiros. Esta nota do governo da Costa Rica recebeu uma saraivada de criticas PESADAS do mundo inteiro A polêmica nota diz que o COMÉRCIO de OVOS ROUBADOS DAS MAMÃES TARTARUGAS, de uma espécie AMEAÇADA DE EXINÇÃO dentro de uma Unidade de Conservação da Natureza (onde os ANIMAIS DEVERIAM SER PROTEGIDOS E RESPEITADOS), Refúgio Nacional da Vida Selvagem de Ostional, em Guanacaste, é LEGAL, está AUTORIZADO e é SUSTENTÁVEL. É interessante ver os animais sendo defendidos por todas as pessoas do mundo. O curioso é que a Dinamarca usa o mesmo argumento para justificar a matança de golfinos, de que a atividade é sustentável, feita de forma controlada e gera renda para a comunidade. Those turtles are an endangered species and Costa Rica should set an example, being as it is so environmentally conscious, of encouraging a total ban of turtle egg consumption. There other mechanisms to avoid "massive and uncontrolled removal by communities", instead of rationing its removal. With the help of the international community Costa Rica could create a police force in-situ to keep poachers away. There should also be stiff penalties for the criminals who break the law, if there in fact is such a law against poaching. The comment above on the Ostional egg poaching doesn't mention any laws in place against illegal poaching, much less the mechanisms for enforcing those laws. If the government of Costa Rica is monitoring these activities, why has it been open to the public this way? Then they should have seperate harvest sites (personally im against that as well..as i believe all living creatures have the right to live).. However if it is a "Must" to harvest these eggs and that brings a considerable amount of income to the contry to contribute to the the GNP ..then there should be farms to do that..
